if the republicans want to put anyone in charge of anything who is not a white man or darrell issa. choose from among these gals, john boehner and good luck. the powerball jackpot has two winners and that's not all. hillary clin puts her foot down about the susan rice controversy and the world's most famous christmas tree comes to looif. there were two winning powerball tickets and they were sold in last night's drawing in an astonishing jackpot of $580. somebody woke up happy this morning, two of them actually. the tickets had all six out of six numbers.

they were sold in arizona and missouri. so let's get right to the winning numbers. 5, 16, 22, 23, 29, and the powerball is 6. there were 68 tickets nationwide that had five numbers right. they'll each get $1 million. not bad. so tickets sold at a rate of 130,000 a minute. nearly nine million people won smaller prizes. now the search is on for the two big ticket holders whose lives are about to change forever. but for the rest of us, it is another day facing the fiscal cliff. negotiators are going to talk about specific proposaals for both sides to avoid that fiscal cliff. tracy pots joins us from washington with all the details. good morning to you. >> good morning, everyone. a number of high level but individual meetings scheduled here today on capitol hill with really just a handful of lawmakers who could have a big impact on your paycheck.

suggesting that while negotiations continue, congress should stop tax rates going up on the middle class now. >> we're not going to raise taxes on those people. i think we should make that clear to everybody. >> reporter: bottom line, no deal yet. both sides are still talking. and both sides signalling that they're willing to give some ground to get this done and get it done on time. lynn. >> thanks so much. it's not how he wanted to get there but former governor mitt romney heads to the white house. president obama is hosting his campaign rival at a private lunch. no reporters will be allowed in. it is the seventh time the two men have met face-to-face. it's going to be the first time since the election. there are no details on the meeting. in his victory speech, president obama said he hoped to speak with romney about how to move the country forward. despite another rough day of meetings with republican senators, u.n. ambassador susan rice received a new vote of confidence. this time from the president and secretary of state hillary clinton. the president called rice

extraordinary during a cabinet meeting she attended. clinton led a round of applause for rice who is considered to be a front-runner to be nominated as clinton's successor. a point later touched on during a news conference. >> susan rice has done a great job as our ambassador to the united nations and, of course, this decision about my successor is up to the president. i'm very happy he has the opportunity with a second term to make a decision. >> but on capitol hill, tennessee republican senator bob corker spoke with rice wednesday and later warned the president that the job of secretary of state is held to a higher standard than that of other appointees. last night on "hard ball," susan collins talked about her meeting with ambassador rice. she says why she is troubled about rice's comments on the attack on the u.s. mission in
